Upon a Story
How our story started
Welcome to Upon a Story. We offer book gifts, hampers, and subscriptions.
I’m April, and I founded Upon a Story as a side project that has now taken flight. My love for reading began with Harry Potter at age 13. As life got busier with school, university, and a career in London, reading often took a backseat. However, I always made time for it, whether during my daily commute or in fleeting moments as a parent.
A move to Hertfordshire and the birth of my son, Edward, brought new challenges and joys. During the pandemic, books became a vital escape. Sending books to my Nana Moe in Scotland reignited my passion for sharing stories. We'd spend hours discussing characters and settings, strengthening an already special bond.
Upon a Story is about sharing this connectivity with others. I believe books can transform lives by offering escapism, knowledge, and connection. Our mission is to help you find your next great read, whether it's a gift or a personal treat.
As a parent, I've seen first-hand the profound impact reading can have on children. It not only enhances their vocabulary and academic performance but also fosters empathy, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the world. Reading can be a source of comfort, relaxation, and happiness for children, helping them develop essential social and emotional skills.
Through Upon a Story, I'm passionate about spreading the love of reading for children and hope that this comes across with the various products we have.
If you would like to get in touch to talk about anything related to books or reading, I would love to hear from you. If you haven't done so yet, feel free to join our Upon a Story Bookclub, where we will be exploring lots of books across genres every month. Our first session will take place in June, so stay tuned!
Thank you for being part of our story.
